Some of the effects are a tsunami, flooding, loss of life, and damage to buildings. A tsunami can occur if the plates under the ocean move suddenly. This causes high tides and can lead to flooding, which can wipe out peoples homes and also people themselves. It can also start fires, and gas leaks. This happens often during earthquakes.
